Water scarcity is real
Mines continue to use more and more of our water as local communities. Forzando mine barricaded the majority of the water that we use. It’s a pity because they use this water in succumbing dust that the trucks cause when driving around the mine.
These happened during the day and it’s been a long time, as the water source used to supply us as a community. We as the community of Vosman(Sinqobile), are deeply affected as we can’t have access to water anymore. Meanwhile, by that time the water tankers are spraying the water all over. Water tankers refill from the water source that is barricaded by the mine for its operational use, which is lubricating types of machinery and suppressing the dust caused by the trucks when moving around.
We have negotiations that we are currently undergoing with the DMRE about the issue of giving mines rights to pursue their mining next to us. Continue to engage DMRE about the issue we facing as a result of them allowing mines to mine in our neighboring communities
