Lack of jobs
Molin Moseamedi
In Mogabane village theft is increasing day by day as most of the people are unemployed and are children of the land where the Bokoni mine is located on their fields. Unemployment is a pain in our country. Unemployment is exploiting our children, as they become thieves and have taken crystal cigarettes. Many boys are losing their future and they are no longer staying at home and living in the fields because they have nothing to do at home.
On 15 October 2024, there was an accident in a Pakistan shop, where a Pakistan was robbed by a group of unemployed children of the land. Some of them with qualifications to enter the Bokoni Platinum mine but they are still unemployed, whereas many of the workers in Bokoni are from far away and some of them have no qualifications and have entered by buying jobs.
However, with the Bokoni mine, the residents of villages near the mine request that they hire children of the land who are qualified for mining jobs, and those who do not have mining qualifications are taken for training so that they too can continue to seek employment. The mines do not fulfill the demands of the residents.
That is something that increases thieves and the number of unemployed people is increasing day by day because the children of the land are not working. The mine can be closed, but it should never be done.
Currently, when residents ask to meet the miners, they are told that things are still standing. There are still investigations going on while people are still going for training and it is not known how and when they entered.
