Rebuilding the nation/Addressing Illegal mining
Tshepo Tsie
To address illicit mining around the nation, the South African government has unveiled a new strategy. A plan for handling illicit mining, illegal immigration, drug trafficking, and corruption has been developed by the South African government in collaboration with the South African Police Department.
They are concentrating on how to fix the nation; most people in my community dubbed them Maraeda, Maberete, and Mafu. Since mining has existed, the largest issue in Nyakallong has been unlawful mining. South Africans and residents of Lesotho, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe make up the majority of the Zamazama population. Most drug transportation is done by Nigerian nationals. Recently, more undocumented miners were taken into custody.
When these miners, known as Zama Zama, fight with illegal weapons, the community believes that it is their fault and blames them for all the negative things that are happening in the area. The majority of South Africans claim that foreigners are stealing their jobs and are the ones breaking the law in their communities, but other countries claim that South Africans are extremely lazy, want the government to take care of everything for them, and are here to work,
not commit crimes. We hope that SAPS will make every effort to clean up the communities to create a better future.
