My name is Mpho Thobejane, and I come from Lydenburg in the Mpumalanga province, Thaba Chweu Local Municipality. I proudly call myself an activist because I believe in using my voice and experiences to bring awareness, healing, and hope to others.
My journey into activism began on a painful and unforgettable day Monday, 5 February 2021. On that day, I was taken advantage of by a guy friend I trusted. The betrayal cut deep. It left me feeling hurt, confused, and powerless. That experience could have broken me, but instead, I chose to rise from it and turn my pain into purpose. Activism became the path through which I reclaimed my strength. It taught me that I have the right and responsibility to speak out not only for myself but also for others who are too afraid or too hurt to share their stories. I found a sense of power in standing up for what’s right and in creating space
for healing.
Many people go through similar struggles and carry silent pain. That’s why I strive to be a voice of encouragement. I want to help others rebuild their self-worth, gain independence, and believe in themselves again. If I can be a light in someone else darkness, then I know my journey has meaning. My mission is to support the vulnerable, uplift the broken, and inspire change in individuals and communities. Through courage, truth, and love, I believe we can build a world where people feel seen, heard, and valued.
I draw strength from my personal experience of abuse in a sense of justice, and to support me
community to take Gender Base Violence seriously. To encourage young people of today to take this
snug seriously, and to act for themselves.
