Renewable energy hijacked by Eskom

Ngagane power station was closed late 19’s, but now Eskom plans to make more land available around all power stations and other sites where there is sufficient capacity to connect renewable energy generators, eventually up to 30,000 ha can be made available for a similar project.

The land that Eskom is talking about is a land lease agreement with four independent power producer investors for the commercial lease and use of land parcels that will be construction of new clean energy generation capacity. The focus will be properties around Kendal and Kusile power station in Mpumalanga, including Ingagane power station in Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal.

This land lease programme is the plan to fast-track to introduction of clean energy sources to the country, an energy mix consistent with the Eskom Just Transition ( EJT) strategy.

The land parcels we were thoroughly screened for usability, considering accessibility, areas about underground mine, future mine activities, Conservation of environmentally sensitive areas such as Wetlands and Heritage sites even the sloping of the land parcels.

Some other land is already being leased to around Ngagane power station, Newcastle, where the June business enterprises (Pty) Ltd they place his application for a prospecting right and environmental authorization at Chivelston (Ngagane area).
