Stream destroyed
#STREMDRAINAGE
Coal mine was established next to the stream so the mine decided to use the same stream that the Community is having to fetch water.
The mine water bowser (tanker) drain water from the stream to western the gravel road at the mine to lower the dust as the trucks are moving up and down.
The mines consume lot of water and already our stream have little water.
All this is happening at Vosman in Mpumalanga under Emalahleni Local Municipality in the Highveld region that was declared High Priority Area many years ago.
The mines water bowser is draining the water everyday trying to minimise the dust because it ends up closing the road for trucks when not watered.
The Community is already affected because they were relying on the stream now since the mine was established the stream is not the same anymore.
The stream becomes smaller each and every day, the mine is consuming lot of water and the community will be left without a stream when the mine leave.
The mine should be closed because they will never stop using the water from the stream and this will have left them with a history of a dry stream.
DMRE and municipality should work together in making sure that our Environment it’s protected at all times as section 24 of the Republic of South Africa outlined it, so it must be respected by enforcing the law.
